Collection: Swallowtail

The swallowtail template entered my universe back in 2001 when Skip outlined 3 boards for me for a surf trip to Indonesia; it has been a mainstay in the quiver ever since.  Probably the most contemporary shape I have in the smaller board models. Could be viewed easily as a Rocket Fish with either Quad or Twin fin set ups.   It paddles well and is extremely fast down the line, but because its narrower with more curve in the outline, you can be really aggressive with bottom turn top turn surfing.  While I personally prefer this model in the 7’6”-8’0” zone—to ride in bigger winter surf—its outline can be adapted to nearly any length.

GLASSING SCHEDULE: 6 oz. + 6 oz. deck, 6 oz. bottom.

FINS: Twin, Tri, or Quads: glass-ons, FCS or Futures.

ROCKER: Contemporary, progressive entry and relaxed through tail.

RAIL: A fuller, down rail in the tail with slightly rolled entry.

BOTTOM CONTOURS: Slight single to a light double barrel then flat off the tail.

TYPE OF WAVES: Head high to double overhead, loves hollow reefs or punchy beach breaks.
